Thoraxklinik Heidelberg

a brief profile

Thoraxklinik Heidelberg is one of the largest specialized hospitals for the treatment of lung diseases in Europe and is a subsidiary of Heidelberg University Hospital. The certified institution enjoys an over 100-year history and draws on the pooled expertise of highly qualified specialists. Every year, more than 2,300 surgical procedures of the thorax (chest) and respiratory organs are performed here. Thoraxklinik Heidelberg treats around 10,500 in-patients and some 30,100 outpatients per year.

Since 2009, Thoraxklinik Heidelberg has been certified as a Lung Cancer Center by the German Cancer Society. In close cooperation with the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and as a partner of the German Center for Lung Research (DZL) and a founding member of the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT), the Thoraxklinik is actively engaged in science and research. In line with this, cutting-edge treatment concepts and diagnostic methods are applied at the Thoraxklinik to benefit the patients.
